Week(end) Wraps and Snaps: Family, Fortune, and Fun!

As y'all can imagine, the Fourth of July week and weekend brought lots of activities, photo ops, and memories with it.

This week, I enjoyed a great Fourth of July celebration with my boyfriend, Joe, and friends. You can check out my wild Independence Day adventure here.

On Thursday, I received my Oscar De La Renta scarf and sunglasses that I won during the giveaway from Emily at Life, etc. I absolutely LOVE these two accessories, and have already been playing around, figuring out a bunch of different ways to flaunt them. Thank you, Emily!

This week's holiday seemed to bring tons of loved ones into town. My boyfriend's best childhood came in on Tuesday to surprise him and spend the 4th with us. My aunt and uncle on my mom's side came into Dallas for a long weekend, and my stepsister and her husband also stayed in downtown Dallas for their son's volleyball tournament.

On Friday, I had the pleasure of enjoying a delectable meal at Bolsa Mercado with my aunt, my uncle, and Joe. We had a great time making conversation over fresh appetizers, wine, main course and dessert. (Notice the scarf, yet again?)

On Saturday, I met up for lunch in downtown Dallas with my stepsister and her husband (no picture, boo!). We enjoyed some great BBQ and the time to catch up on life. Later that evening, my boyfriend, Joe, and I attended our friends' wedding at the Adolphus hotel in downtown Dallas. It was beautiful, and we had a blast. Joe and I also celebrated our 9-month-iversary that night.

Remember me mentioning in my last post how I like to count all the "firsts" with Joe and myself? Well, I thought I'd share with y'all (though he'll get me for sharing this, I'm sure! hee hee) that he finally told me he loves me that night while we were dancing. I returned the sentiment, making this the first time I've said "I love you" to a man before. I'm such a lucky girl!

I always love the creativity and effort that goes in to making a wedding enjoyable and unique not only for the bride and groom, but for the wedding guests, as well. I couldn't help but share this cute idea for showing guests what table they are to be seated at during the reception. When we walked into the first room of the wedding area, a table to our left displayed several cutely decorated and embellished frames with names and table numbers written in the photograph area of them. Take a look:
The mother of the groom spent a strenuous amount of time taking broken and old pieces of jewelry and glueing them on to each frame to make them each a one-of-a-kind wedding favor. They also had a photo backdrop area with props, allowing guests to take their own picture with a professional camera. How perfect is that? Take fun pictures at the wedding, and take home a cute, handmade frame to put the picture in later!

Sunday was filled with catchup on work and errands, but I managed to sneak away in the evening to meet my aunt and uncle up one more time and show them a good 'ole country time at the Fort Worth Stockyards. I took them to Billy Bob's Texas with their dancin' boots on, and we enjoyed a few dances and beverages. Even though it was pretty slow in the World's Largest Honky Tonk (being a Sunday and all), we made the most of it and requested line-dancing songs we knew and walked around the joint for a bit.

After we closed out Billy Bob's, we headed over to the White Elephant Saloon and listened to a live musican covering songs by artists like George Strait and Brooks & Dunn. We had a night cap, enjoyed the interesting decor (their extensive hat collection is impressive!), and danced a little two-step (See the picture collage of my uncle and myself dancing below). It was a lovely way to end the night and wrap up the weekend as a whole.

Whew! As you can see, I had a fun, long weekend with family and friends. I spent all of Monday catching up on errands and other items on my to-do list. It definitely grew quite a bit while I was preoccupied with the weekend's activities!

How was your weekend? Do anything exciting and fun for the holiday weekend?

XOXO,

Sarah B Texas

  1. Y'all had a busy weekend! There are times when I miss living in Fort Worth, because I *loved* going to Billy Bob's!! Between the rodeo in Mesquite on Friday nights, Billy Bob's on Saturday, and the cattle drives on Sunday, you could make it a full weekend! Also? I'm so in love with that scarf and those glasses! Too cute!

Thanks for linking up with us!!

    1. I know what you mean about the magic of Fort Worth! I still live a good stretch from the town, so I don't make it over there as often as I'd like, but I always try to live it up when I do! And thank you for your compliments on the accessories! They're adorable, aren't they? I'm a new-found lover of Oscar De La Renta! :-)

You're so welcome for the link up! Hope to do it again next week! :-)
