A week ago I asked to rummage through my dear friend Elisha's nail polish before we went out on the town. While rummaging through her polish box, I came across a hot pink color that caught my eye. When I picked up the bottle, I was surprised to see the words "crackle overcoat." I knew I had to try it out!
(I believe the color was from L'Oreal). The color was so rich, I only needed one coat. Once that dried, I decided to try out the Sally Hansen Crackle Overcoat. I painted the polish on like I would any other polish, and was a little disappointed when it looked as if I had simply painted over my mint polish completely.
But, to my surprise, The color began to literally crack, and as the polish continued to dry, the mint base started to show more and more from under the hot pink top coat. Within a few minutes my nail was dry and decorated efficiently.
I absolutely recommend this product. The crackle overcoat dries so quickly and works too well to not use it! I love the fact that it can change a set of plainly manicured nails to something funky and unique. I got several comments and compliments on it, from mentions that the colors were "very '80s" to girls asking me where they could purchase a bottle.
I hope to purchase more crackle coats in different colors, so that I can experiment different colors together! You can never go wrong with bright, funky nails in the summer time!
What is your favorite manicure trend? Do you do your own nails or get them done?

Cool product! Wonder how it would look on the toes? Maybe red, white, and blue for the 4th? Cute!
ReplyDeleteLucy, that is an EXCELLENT idea! Pleast let me know if you try it! :-) (I'm so glad you caught this post, as I wrote it with you in mind!)
DeleteI have the crackle on my big toes, as well, and I love it! Be sure to apply it deliberately to your big toe, as it takes a lot of polish to crackle correctly!
Thanks for stopping by :-)
Okay, that I might have to try! That looks super cool and easy to boot! Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt seriously is! Thanks for stopping by :-)
DeleteI used to get my nails done, but now I have more fun trying out my own variations! I currently love nail striping tape - I bought a pack of 10 colors for like $3 on eBay...there are so many different patterns you can use! This week I used them to make my "flag" for my 4th of July nails ;)
ReplyDeleteHey Franziska! I checked out your flag nails post--super cute! I am now following your blog :-) I'm looking into getting my own Julep box. Do they color options/style profiles change each month? For instance, will the box change sometime tomorrow since it will be July?
DeleteThanks for stopping by! :-)
very cool! i've only used the black crackle and i don't like it as much as i like the way other colors look!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I never tried black crackle, but I'm sure that it would be hard to pull off. Black anything that's grungy and not polished tends to give a sloppy look rather than an edgy one ;-)
DeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! :-)
That crackle looks really cool over your mint green.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Alexis!

ReplyDeleteI've wondered how good their Crackle polish, looks good on you!
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty much a risk-free purchase! I love it, and can't wait to try more! Thanks for stopping by :-)
DeleteThose colors look great together.
ReplyDeleteDon't they? Perfect for summer time :-) (then again, I'm biased towards ANYTHING with mint colors accompanying it!)
DeleteVery cute!
