I woke up this morning violently ill and was forced to call in sick from work. It's been about 8 hours since I woke, and I still am having trouble keeping anything down. Even so much as water and aspirin sends me running to the bathroom.
But, this post wasn't intended to gross you out on my bedridden day. There was something I noticed among the pain and nausea that made me realize: you find out who's really there for you when you're sick. Now I'm not just talking who holds your hair back and tells you it's going to be ok.
I posted a status on my personal Facebook account asking if anyone had a remedy for my sickness. I was amazed by the response I received. Several people gave me tips, asked what I'd tried already, and followed up later on the same status to see if I was feeling any better. I received calls from family members wanting to help, texts from friends, and a g-chat from the boyfriend wanting to order me some delivery so I could try to put something in my stomach.
I am overwhelmed with gratitude towards my family and friends. I really hope I don't have to get sick to remember how loved I am in the future, but your kindness and compassion towards me did not go unnoticed. Thank you all so much for your consideration and thoughtfulness!
Well, as you can imagine, just writing this post is making my head spin. Time to head back to bed and try to ride the rest of it out. Thank you all for your warm wishes.
XOXO,
Sarah B Texas
Hope you are feeling better now!

ReplyDeleteGoodness gracious, girl. I hope you feel better VERY soon! Definitely try some chamomile or lavender tea with a little bit of lemon & honey. It helps calm down the stomach A LOT! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you SO much! I'm actually working on an update blog as we speak :-) The chamomile/lavender tea sounds like a fantastic idea! I love any excuse to have tea, really. I will have to give it a go, thank you!
